140 Years of Athletics in Coventry

Almost a century and a half of athletics in Coventry will be celebrated at a Heritage Open Days exhibition this weekend.
Organised by former Olympic Marathon Runner Colin Kirkham, the 'time line' style display will feature the roots of athletics in Coventry and demonstrate how the sport has developed since 1875. Industrial, educational, political and social threads will be illustrated through displays that will include historical photographs of Coventry, some of which will never have been shown before in public and featuring backdrops to the many athletics events which have taken place in the City.
It is also hoped that the exhibition will be supported with visits from some of the City's other Olympic and International athletes.
The exhibition takes place at Coventry Godiva Harriers' Club House, Coventry Athletics Track, Kirby Corner Road, Coventry CV4 8EE. Opening times are Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th 11am to 4pm.
