Our congratulations to local endurance runner, Katrina Wootton, (Coventry Godiva Harriers) who today was named in a strong Great Britain & Northern Ireland Team for the forthcoming European Cross Country Championships. Katrina earned her GB selection with a controlled run in the recent UK Athletics European Trials at Sefton Park, Liverpool over a boggy and rain saturated course.
That Sefton Park is a Grade II listed park it seems appropriate that Katrina will move from one historic venue in England to another in Hungary. The nineteenth edition of the SPAR European Championship will be held on Sunday 9th December in Szentendre, Hungary to the north of Budapest within the grounds of the Hungarian Open Air Museum. Katrina an accomplished and established GB track international will swap the normal 400m athletics track for a cross country course which will pass through farmyards, stables, barns, mills and churches in a country park which aims to replicate 19th century Hungarian village life.
Katrina a graduate of Coventry University now living in the City on a permanent basis, has recently joined local club Coventry Godiva Harriers and receives valued support from Cranfield Business Recovery, regional specialist in business and personal recovery and Brooks Running.
