Former Oxford Park Run winner, Martin Slevin, has successfully switched sports to win the British Police 3km race walk championships in Inverness.
31 year old Slevin stormed home in a personal best time of 16 mins 59 secs to take his first national title.
The switch to race walking is only temporary, as the Coventry Godiva Harrier plans to return to running for the rest of the summer.
'I've already planned this Summer,' said Slevin 'and plan to do a mixture of road and track races, all of them running.'
His long term plans, however, have been thrown into confusion by his unexpected walking success.
'It has certainly given me something to think about in the future and who knows, maybe I'll be spending a bit more time race walking.'
