Is Ice Good for Sore Muscles?

New research is suggesting that although ice may be quite good for numbing soreness in muscles, it could also significantly reduce muscle strength and power for up to 15 minutes after the icing has ended. This could lead to an immediate reduction in muscle function and performance, with possible further injury if exercise is continued.

The conclusion: Ice sore muscles after exercise, not before and don't use it as a way of numbing sore spots to get through a run or session.
